Botanical Name: Monstera Deliciosa
Common Names: Monstera, Swiss Cheese Plant
Description: Native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, these plants have glossy, heart shaped leaves which develops its unique splits (fenestrations) in its maturity. It is a climbing, evergreen perennial vine that is perhaps most noted for its large perforated leaves on thick plant stems and its long cord-like aerial roots.
After reaching full maturity in tropical climates (Zones 9-11), this plant can also begin sprouting the delicious fruit that give the plant it's name "deliciosa." It takes a year to mature, and tastes like mango, banana, and pineapple had a baby.
You can grow this indoors near direct or indirect sunlight or outside if temperatures rarely reach less than 50 degrees. Do not over water! It is ok to allow the plant to almost completely dry out before watering thoroughly.
Wipe large leaves off often, and use one of our moss poles if you want it to grow vertically.
